Downloading and Installing with Firefox 10 and Windows XP

These instructions are for Windows XP. For Windows 7 and Windows Vista, click here.

1. Read through the following instructions first, so you know what to expect before you start. It's very easy — it looks more complicated than it really is because I've listed everything in fine detail to make sure you know what to do.

Note: Dialogs are changed from time to time, and browser and operating system settings may vary. Consequently there may be some slight differences between these instructions and what actually happens on your computer. Generally, though, if you keep clicking, 'Next', 'Continue', 'Yes', and 'OK' you can't go far wrong!

2. You may find it helpful to print this page for reference, particularly if your browser covers your entire screen, as you will then need to move, resize or minimise it for some of the steps. One way to print the page is to hold down the "Ctrl" key while pressing "P".

3. Click here to start.

4. A dialog opens asking you to confirm that you wish to download and save the installer.

Click "Save File".

5. Firefox downloads the installer into its Downloads folder (unless you have set the Firefox options so that it will be downloaded somewhere else) and displays all the downloads with the most recent at the top. This is the entry for the installer.

Double-click the installer entry or right-click and select "Open".

6. Unless you have previously told it not to, Firefox now displays a warning about opening executable files

Click OK

7. Before the installer runs, Windows displays a Security Warning dialog.

Click Run.

8. The Real Mahjong Setup Wizard (AKA installer) appears. You can't mistake it — it looks something like this.

At the bottom of the Real Mahjong Setup Wizard Welcome page, click "Next".

9. The next page is the Licence Agreement. Read it and, if you're happy with it, check the "I accept the agreement" button and click "Next". If not, click "Cancel".

10. Assuming you clicked "Next" on the Licence Agreement page, the next page contains version-specific information. Click "Next".

11. If you've previously installed and uninstalled Real Mahjong you may now see a message telling you the folder already exists and asking if you still want to use it. If this page appears, the answer's "Yes".

12. The only reason for not accepting the preselected option (on the next page) would be that you already have an application called "Real Mahjong". You haven't, of course! Click "Next".

13. On the next page (Select Start Menu Folder) click "Next".

14. On the Ready to Install page, click "Install".

15. When the installation is complete you will see the Completing the Real Mahjong Setup Wizard page.

Click "Finish".

16. To start Real Mahjong, look for the Real Mahjong shortcut on your desktop and double-click it. Minimise, resize, move or close your browser window if it's in the way.) The shortcut looks like this:

17. If this is the first time you've installed Real Mahjong (or you've installed and then uninstalled it) you will now see a Registration dialog

You need to register a user name that will identify you to other players. Please also enter your real name (first and last) and your email address. This information enables us to contact you should we need to but is not seen by anyone else. Click "Apply".

18. The Real Mahjong Control Centre now appears. Check out the Help menu, or if you'd prefer to dive in straight away just click "Computer" under "Who do you want to play with?"
